Practical guide

Field Photo Evidence for Gate Surveys and Installations

Good photographs let another authorised person understand the site. A random gallery of close-ups rarely provides enough orientation or decision context.

Begin with orientation

Capture the approach, full opening and surrounding movement space. These images explain where later details belong.

Record decision-critical details

Photograph posts, walls, foundations, surfaces, slopes, drainage, obstructions, power and cable routes. Add notes when the image alone is ambiguous.

Use consistent quality

Clean the lens, avoid strong backlight, hold the device steadily and retake blurred images. Include a safe scale reference where appropriate without obscuring the condition.

Respect privacy and authority

Avoid unnecessary people, neighbouring areas, vehicle plates and documents. Capture and retain only information the organisation is authorised to process.

Attach evidence to the correct job

Confirm the client and site before capture, synchronise before leaving when possible and review that the office can open the files.
